Dr. PJ Cabrera is a lecturer of journalism and communication at the University of Texas at San Antonio and San Antonio College. For nearly nine years, he advised the state and nationally-recognized journalism program at Judson High School in Converse, TX. He has been involved with various campus and district committees and state and national boards, including mentoring new journalism advisers, coordinating the Journalism Education Association’s Scholastic Journalism Week, and advocating for journalism education and media literacy with the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. In 2024, he received his Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership with basic qualitative research that focused on scholastic journalism, media literacy, civic engagement, student leadership, student voice, and student censorship.
