I retired after teaching 40 years, the last 26 of those teaching/advising high school journalism. In my final 3 years I also acquired the creative writing program/literary magazine, which was placed in my 5th block journalism class. I also worked about 20 years at the local daily part-time as a news and copy editor and Spanish-to-English translator, retiring in late 2015. (I now receive a modest pension. How cool is that?!) For 5 years I was an adjunct instructor in communication and adviser to the student newspaper at the local state university. In addition, I am a JEA-certified critique judge and mentor, and am a member of the JEA Mentoring Committee.
