MJE Newspaper/Newsmagazine Honors Level Journalism/Media Production Yearbook
Since 2007, I have attended and taught electives and breakout groups at Chris Joyís annual Camp Yearbook workshop alongside Johnny Cutsinger. In addition, I presented at the Jostens National Summer Conference in San Diego with Tina Cleveland. It is at camp and workshops like these that I came to a poignant realization; the passion that we have for yearbook needs to be shared with as many new and/or veteran advisors and yearbook staff members as possible. If we donít share our best practices, passion and inspiration with each other and with those who may be ìon the fenceî about yearbook we are risking continual advisor turn-over, student bitterness and resentment within the school communities. As we know, the ìyearbook worldî is very small and we all seem to know each other. It is up to us to present information in an informative, innovative and engaging way so that all who attend the presentations are inspired to do great things for their schools.
