Elaine Hewitt teaches newspaper and journalism in a small Catholic school in Royal Oak, Michigan. With limited resources and equipment, both the high school paper, The Observer, and the Academy paper called The Knightly News have won numerous MIPA awards. Hewitt is a former on-air radio news broadcaster who currently freelances as a writer and voice talent in addition to her teaching responsibilities.
